Slip n' Slide

Taylor decided to buy Noah a Slip n' Slide for summer. Noah wasn't so excited about sliding on it. He pretty much just wanted to play in the water that sprays from the sides and pools at the end of it. Taylor did manage to shove him down it a few times and he did enjoy it. Maybe this is one of those things he'll grow to like more over time.

Little Explorer

My parents came to stay with us this week to help out with Noah and Grayson because Taylor had to go back to work. This afternoon, Noah wanted to take them to show them the creek where he and Taylor play in the woods behind our house. He is such an adorable little explorer.

All decked out in his hat and sunglasses, he was ready to go. He showed Nana and Papa (sort of) the way out through the woods and to the creek. He walked through the water and over the slippery rocks (with a little help from Papa) like it was nothing.

And what could be better than a rock to throw and a handful of mud?

One thing is for sure. He is all boy. And it looks like he will be a great little exploring buddy.

Fun in the Creek

We wanted Noah to have a really great day on his last day as an only child. So we grabbed some lunch and headed to a park. After lunch, we played on the playground for a little while, and then headed off down the trail to check out the creek. We found it, and found a good place to get down the bank and into it. We happened to have a spare shirt in our bag for Noah, but no extra pants. So what to do? Just go without them.

Noah didn't seem to mind at all. He went right into the water without thinking twice about it. He followed Taylor around exploring. He picked up rocks and threw them into the water. He tried to catch the tiny fish that swam past. And he had a blast playing in the oozy mud by the bank. He was quite gross when they finally came out of the water and had to be wiped down good before changing clothes and heading back to the car to pass out on the way home. I've never seen him enjoy the water quite as much as he did today. This is one day this mom will remember for a long time to come.

Happy Mother's Day!

The Saturday before Mother's Day was spent with my mom. We didn't do anything fancy, just hung out at the house and grilled some burgers. Noah got to play with his buddy next door for a while, and then give Nana some gifts before lunch. She seemed to like her picture frame and movie, but was really touched by Noah's little hand print heart.

We headed outside after lunch and managed to get some nice pictures of the three of us.

Noah picked flowers for everybody and then it was time to head home. It was a great visit with a very special lady who has always been a great mom and is now a fantastic grandmother.

On Mother's Day, Taylor got up with Noah so I could sleep a little later. He cleaned up some and made pancakes for breakfast. I got a new bike, which is also my gift for every other occasion for the rest of the year. Noah gave me a new Willow Tree figurine that brought tears to my eyes. It was really sweet.

We spent the day just relaxing at the house and playing at the playground. We had a good time enjoying one of our last days as a family of three. My next Mother's Day will be very different!
