The mother of one of Taylor's friends gave this advice to our friend Katy at her recent baby shower:
"Don't let your kids play with fire."
Apparently, she really knows this group of guys that Katy and I married into, and really knows what she's talking about.
This is what's left of a brand new camp chair after a night of Taylor and Zach hanging out. They came inside to get a drink on this very windy Friday night and left their chairs unattended. When they returned to their fire, they found that the wind had blown the chair over on top of the fire pit. Maybe from now on, I should remember the advice of Mrs. Flemming and not let the boys play with fire.

Five Months
Noah is five months old today and I have no idea how that happened. The last five months just flew by without me even noticing. My baby is growing so fast!!
New things this month: He is finally sleeping through the night. Yay!! He got sick about mid-January and has been sleeping through the nights since then. It's as good as I had hoped it would be. Also, we have started giving him oatmeal. The first few times it took him a minute to figure out what was going on and what he was supposed to do with it. But he seems to be getting the hang of it and really seems to enjoy it. He figured out how to escape from his swaddle wrap, so we have switched to one of the sleep sacks (thanks Nanna!). It's become more difficult to dress him because he grabs anything you put near him and shoves it into his face. He really likes to do this with his towels after a bath.
We are buying some nine month clothes now because not all of the six month ones are long enough for this little giant of mine. He's still skinny, though, so there is lots of extra room in his pants. His personality is coming out even more, and he has a lot of it. He is so funny and so adorable. He's happy most of the time and will give a smile freely to anyone who shows him attention. He is such a little blessing and I just can't believe that we get to have him. I know it won't always easy, but I can't wait to see the person he's going to grow up to be. I know he's going to be amazing. And we are definitely going to have some fun along the way.

Things I've Learned
1. A baby's laugh is the most adorable sound ever.
2. No matter how bad your day or night has been, when a baby smiles at you, you can't help but smile back.
3. Seeing your baby sick and not being able to make it better will break your heart.
4. Sometimes a nap can be the highlight of your day.
5. Seeing recognition on your baby's face when you walk in the room is one of the greatest feelings you'll ever have.
6. When you're talking to your baby and he reaches out and grabs your face, you know you're exactly where you're supposed to be.

Four Months Old
Noah turned four months old on December 8th. When we went for his four month check-up, he was 28 inches long (100th percentile) and weighed 14 pounds 14 ounces (38th percentile). If this trend continues I may have a hard time finding pants to fit this kid. Looks like he's going to be built like his daddy.
One big thing this month is that he's really started sucking his thumb, which is adorable, and he chews on his hands all the time. He drools constantly so bibs have become a necessity. He still loves his swing, and he seems to like his new bouncy seat that we put together.
He also loves the Bjorn carrier. He likes facing forward so he can see everything that's happening. He just takes it all in and kicks his feet when he gets really excited about something. He even occasionally falls asleep in it. His personality is really coming out now. He has the cutest facial expressions and is much more vocal. This kid really seems to have a lot to say. He loves to stand up, with some assistance of course. I have a feeling when he starts crawling we are never going to catch him. He's changed so much over these last four months, and I can't wait to see what the next one brings. One thing's for sure...we are going to have a lot of fun with this one.

Dude, Where's My Car?
In the driveway. That's where it is. It used to live happily in our garage, which I was so excited to have when we bought our house. But now, it's warm home has been taken over by my DIY husband who has taken his car apart. What now lives in my garage is what you see below.
Ever seen the inner workings of a transmission? Neither had I until two days ago. Just don't ask me what any of it does. Hopefully all will go well and my car will be back home safe and sound where it belongs very soon.
